Your gaia luffa sponge is extending your sustainable household, since it is made of the dried inner part of the luffa plant that belongs to the family of cucurbits, which makes it a renewable natural product.
We get our sponges from Egypt, where they are grown and manufactured.
Your luffa sponge is perfect for small to persistent stains in your bathroom or kitchen due to the hard fibre structure. You can use it to wash dishes in combination with an organic detergent or just for general cleaning in your bathroom or kitchen.
With the luffa shower- or body sponge you can remove your cornea when dry. If you let it absorb water, it turns into the perfect bath and massage sponge. The massage allows you to remove dead cells from the skin surface and also stimulates the blood flow to the connective tissue. Your luffa sponge will help you get rid of blemishes and cellulite! Every skin type can use this sponge because it cleanses the skin without irritating it – so you can use it for wellness, day care, allergy- and baby care.
The natural luffa sponge offers you an alternative to a conventional sponge, which is mostly made of plastic, foam and steel wool and dyed with chemical colours. Production requires a lot of petroleum and such a sponge loses smallest particles of plastic in daily use that end up in your food and groundwater.

Use your gaia Luffa dishwashing sponge when washing up in combination with organic washing-up liquid or when cleaning your kitchen and bathroom. The gaia shower sponge removes calluses when dry (similar to the pumice stone). Let your sponge soak up water and massage your skin – don’t be afraid of too much pressure – you will feel that the massaged body parts are directly supplied with better blood. After use, you can rinse your sponge with water and let it dry well (in summer in the sun and in winter in a dry place). Since a lot of bacteria and dirt are absorbed by the sponge during the cleaning process, you can get it clean very easily with the help of a vinegar-water bath.
- Depending on usage, put your sponge 1-2 times a week in a vinegar-water mixture (1: 2) for 5-10 minutes and then dry it well
- also possible: wash your sponge in the washing machine at a maximum of 60 degrees (but without fabric softener!) and then dry it well
